Dr. Sebi was a pathologist, biochemist, and naturalist known for his supernatural gift of herbalism and holistic healing. He analyzed herbs in different continents and Islands including North America, Central, and South America, Africa, and different Carribean Islands to develop methodology pertinent to herbs healing the human body.

Born Alfredo Bowman on November 26, 1933, in Spanish Honduras, Dr. Sebi was a self-educated herbalist who came to the United States diagnosed with a series of conditions including asthma, diabetes, and obesity. Unsatisfied with the treatment of traditional western medicine, pharmaceutical medicine, and doctors, Dr. Sebi explored herbalism.

Despite never receiving a formal education, Dr. Sebi garnered attention after announcing that he is the healer of all diseases, up until the day he died. Recently, the legend of Dr. Sebi was rekindled by the late West Coast rapper, Nipsey Hussle. During his interview with the Breakfast Club, Hussle noted Dr. Sebi’s prosecution in the state of New York in 1987 for practicing medicine without a license after he placed advertisements in local newspapers claiming to cure AIDS.

Bowman quickly rose to fame after he was acquitted on all charges because jurors claimed the video evidence obtained by federal agents failed to show that Dr. Sebi diagnosed any medical conditions. Although Dr. Sebi escaped the court unscathed, he was considered a fraud by doctors, lawyers, and consumer protection agencies in the United States of America.

While many people believe Dr. Sebi’s holistic theories were fraudulent in nature, Nipsey Hussle remained adamant about Sebi’s teachings and was reportedly working on a documentary about Dr. Sebi in 2019. The same year Hussle was murdered outside his clothing store in Los Angeles. His murder is believed to be connected to his attempted enlightenment regarding Dr. Sebi’s court case and holistic teachings.

In 2004, it was reported that Dr. Sebi treated the king of R&B, the late Michael Jackson before he was prosecuted for child abuse – of which he was acquitted. He claimed to have helped Jackson overcome his addiction to Demerol and morphine with African Bio-Electric Cell Food Therapy. Jackson was later sued by Dr. Sebi for related costs of up to $980,000. The case was dismissed in 2015 for illegitimate prosecution.

In May of 2016. Dr. Sebi and an associate were arrested on charges of money laundering at the Juan Manuel Galvez de Roatan Airport after they were found with $37,000 cash with no explanation for the money. Dr. Sebi was held for several weeks in a Honduran prison on money laundering charges before falling ill. He later died from complications of pneumonia on August 6, 2016, in police custody.

Many conspiracy theorists are skeptical about the chain of events leading to his arrest and death. They believe his holistic teachings hold truth and there was a conspiracy to silence him because his teachings went against a billion-dollar medical establishment and the pharmaceutical industry.
