After an 11-month hiatus, Starz hit series “Power” has resurfaced as its final season is underway. The first episode of season 6 is filled with action, controversy and conflict as Ghost and Tommy are officially at-war.

Power’s first episode of season 6 is also prefaced with a new theme song that the audience expressed severe displeasure with.

 

Recapping Season 5’s finale that aired in September of 2018, Angela Valdez was left shot in Ghost’s arm as Tommy fulfilled her death wish.

Angela Valdez dies from a gunshot wound to the chest.

 

Power & Betrayal

 

Ghost is enraged about Angela’s murder as he frequently proclaimed her as the “love of my life.” Aware that Tommy is Angela’s slayer, Ghost is officially on a manhunt to neutralize Tommy.

The felonious activities of the series never disappoint the audience. Tommy involves Keisha in his high risk, high-reward activities. As he convenes with Keisha after shooting Angie, the first suspenseful action was introduced.

Tommy lurked on Angela and Ghost to kill Ghost, not Angela!

Keisha and Tommy created a blueprint to kill Ghost because they see Ghost as the primary mitigator of Tommy’s power. Ghost also hoodwinked Tommy into killing his father: Anthony “Tony” Teresi.

Power’s central theme is predicated on monopoly and control through money, death, and drugs. This central theme is evident is personified through Tommy and Ghost.

Both protagonists are bloodthirsty for revenge and power.

 Best friends for the majority of their lives, Tommy and Ghost are now plotting to kill each other.

The character that is arguably suffering from the most turmoil is Tasha St. Patrick. Tasha has compromised her entire life for her husband – James St. Patrick – a.k.a. “Ghost.”

Angry that Tasha is giving him a taste of his karma, Ghost kills Terry Silver – the lover and lawyer that freed her mind from her abysmal life. 

As a result, Tasha FINALLY requests a divorce from her egotistical, murderous and self-centered husband. Ghost is left with a severed family without the comfort of Angela to mitigate the pain. 

 

Allegations and The Attack

 

More controversy and life-changing circumstances arise as Ghost and his longtime Lawyer – Proctor undergo fierce interrogation tactics for Angela’s murder. 

Heartbroken and hurt, Proctor encourages Ghost to appear in front of detectives for questioning before they find a motive to arrest him. 

Operating under the convict code of honor “snitches get stitches,” Ghost refuses to cooperate with detectives and plans to handle Tommy on his own recognizance. 

The ending of Power was as expected. Ghost sneaks up to try and kill Tommy by riddling his car with bullets like swiss cheese, but Tommy was not in the car.

Tommy was fortunate that he was not in the vehicle at the time of the attempted murder.

Ghost officially declared war! Unknowingly.

Ghost is a professional hit-man, or so we thought. He killed the driver of Tommy’s car without properly identifying who was on the receiving end of his bullets. 

The next episode should be more suspenseful as the writers of Power do a stellar job of building action to the climax. Fans are excited for Dre’s debut in the final season of the power struggle.
